With its expertise, its international influence, its resources at sea, its technological platforms, being a part of France's leading research organization, the CNRS, associated with the first European University in marine sciences, Sorbonne University, the Oceanological Observatory of Banyuls-sur-Mer is a major player in the blue economy.
Economic development

The Oceanological Observatory of Banyuls-sur-Mer hosts an incubator for startup companies, under agreement of the CCI of Perpignan, and registered in the Economic Developers' Club of the Pyrénées-Orientales and member of the CreaSud66 network of incubators. The start-ups hosted benefit from access to technological platforms and a state-of-the-art research environment, a panoramic amphitheatre and fully equipped meeting rooms, enabling them to contribute to the economic development of the region in optimum conditions.
