Mediterranean Biodiversity

Côte rocheuse méditérranéenne

The Mediterranean region is known as a hotspot of biodiversity. More than 15000 species have been described, and 60% are specific to this area with 20% threatened of rapid extinction. For a sustainable management of the mediterranean environment, the protection of its component species is an essential priority.

We propose here some teaching resources to gain knowledge on key mediterranean species, to help the sustainable management of the mediterranean area. This resource is completed by a presentation of the main threats and possible actions for the protection and restoring of the habitats, species, and ecosystems.
